We're getting excited about the design of a new project in Hawthorn, with our clients looking to build an 'all electric' house that can be fully powered by renewable energy. Much of this energy will come from an on-site array of PV solar panels, that we have designed to form an integrated roof plane creating the main element in the rear garden elevation.
The design is for the renovation and extension of a heritage house, with a wonderful north facing orientation to the rear of the property. The design looks to maximise solar passive performance and the connection of new living/ding/kitchen areas in the extension with the garden.
The design includes a laundry designed as a solar drying room, and bathroom/ensuite breaking out of the exiting house. These two bathrooms feature showers located in a brick courtyard being retained in the demolition of the rear of the existing house.
