The site of The Lookout House extends back through decades of our client’s local bayside family history. The family home was first built in the 1950’s by our client’s father, a classic Australian beach house along the Victorian peninsula.

By coming to Habitech Systems, our clients had one clear goal for this new chapter in their lives. It became our task to replace their existing and aging family beach house with a new high performing, contemporary equivalent suitable for full time living. With our experience in building modern, super strong and highly insulated homes both interstate and overseas, it was the physical site of the house that presented its biggest challenges for Habitech Systems. As bushfire and drainage conditions were required to be met along with a whole suite of ground conditions, construction envelope and access issues, the final design for The Lookout needed to be a smart and efficient solution.

What resulted was a simple cube built into the sloping site at the edge of the escarpment above the beach, with a strong nod to its fifties heritage through careful colour selection and a battened façade. The journey entering the property was one of significant importance. Entering from the main driveway, through the trees, reaching both workshop and carport, you are greeted with a modernist façade screening the expansive views from within the home.  Accommodation for extended family ensures memories will be shared in ultimate comfort for generations to come. With the added convenience of a lap pool along the southern boundary, exercise and good health is the key to happiness for this bayside project.

Nestled tightly in-between the surrounding foliage, all building site challenges have been long forgotten with The Lookout House focusing on an amazing 180 degree panorama of Port Phillip Bay towards the north.  With expansive living areas, three bedrooms, entertaining terrace and balconies, this high energy rated new build will surely impress.
