Top ten sustainable houses from around the world

As readers of this blog would agree, there's more to a "sustainable" home than chucking a few solar panels on top of a building and calling it green. It's in the build, in the way the house is situated, in the thought and care that goes into the design, allowing the house to maximise natural features in the surrounding environment and reduce the need for additional heating and cooling.

This list of the top ten sustainable houses from around the world makes for some interesting reading, from the Zeb Pilot House in Norway, that generates enough electricity to run both itself and an electric car, to the Tighthouse in New York, the renovation of a hundred year old house.
