About Habitech Systems

Habitech Systems is an Australian owned venture established in 2008, with headquarters in Melbourne. The company has invested in extensive research, development and testing of the Habitech modular building system, for the Australian market.

Chris Barnett

Chris is an architect with over 25 years experience in architectural practice, building and sustainability consulting. The Habitech system is the culmination of this diverse experience and R&D activities undertaken by Chris's architectural practice, Third Skin Sustainability - www.thirdskin.com.au. Chris is Habitech's Managing Director.

Viv Faithfull

Vivian is a UK trained graduate architect with 18 years experience in London- UK, Dalmacija- Croatia, Indonesia, Western Australia, South Africa and Canada. Projects have spanned the residential, commercial and education sectors as well as marine construction in his adventurous exploration of Indonesia on his hand-built yacht. Born in the US as a British national, Viv has travelled and worked in a variety of fields before settling with his family in Melbourne. Specialising now in sustainable housing, Viv is Habitech System's Design Manager.


Jon Pye

Jon is an architect with twenty years of experience working in Australia and the Pacific. He has run his own practice, worked in several of Melbourne's most successful architectural practices, taught at both Melbourne University and RMIT, spent a year as the Government Architect of Kiribati and recently finished building his own house. Jon is Habitech's Senior Architect


Niall O Healaithe

Niall is one of Australia’s first certified Passive House Designers and has successfully completed Passive House projects in Victoria and Ireland. Niall brings over a decade of experience in sustainable residential and commercial building design to the team. Before joining Habitech, Niall co-founded and ran his own architectural practice in Dublin, specialising in sustainable design. In 2012 he relocated to Melbourne with his family and since then, designed celebrated eco-sensitive houses and multi residential projects throughout Australia. Niall is part of Habitech's Senior Design Team.


Vonne Yang

Vonne has lived in 5 different countries in the past 10 years, giving her a well-rounded and innate sense of design. Her major studies were in Architecture at RMIT, along with exchanges to Innsbruck Austria, Berlin Germany, Vienna Austria & Tokyo Japan. Vonne's experience is in architecture, graphic design, book production, printing and photography. Vonne is our friendly Sales Manager, and she also assists with project design, documentation, design detailing, managing the delivery of Habitech's modular building fabric.

Penny Stephens

For over 15 years Penny has worked in marketing and small business management. Her experience spans a number of industries including construction, international aid and development, strategic consultancy and renewable energy. She founded the social enterprise A Little Good and has a Masters of International Business. Penny is Habitech's Business Manager with responsibilities across a range of our operations and activities. 


Neil France

Neil is an undergraduate student studying a double degree in both architectural design and civil engineering at Monash University. He completed his VCE in 2013, achieving multiple dux of visual communication and design awards. Neil is Habitech's architectural assistant - helping everyone in documentation, delivery and management of Habitech's modular building fabric, as well as assisting in maintaining the firm's graphic design with marketing & social media. 


Heather Lauren

Heather is a qualified Architectural Documenter, graduating from the Southbank Institute of Technology in 2011. She has worked on residential and commercial projects along the East Coast of Australia and in 2017 moved to Melbourne to join the Habitech team.

Mike Rikard-Bell

Mike is an engineer and entrepreneur with over 20 years experience establishing and building technologies companies.  Mike was a co-founder of Lochard which grew to be the world leader in airport environment monitoring solutions, employing over 100 staff in the monitoring of over 200 major global airports. In 2007 Lochard was sold to Spectris PLC, a top 250 company on the London stock exchange.


Tim Black

Tim is a founding director of BKK Architects, a research and design based practice established in 2000. He has held senior positions with the Australian Institute of Architects and has lectured internationally on the practice’s work.  Tim holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Architecture and in 2009 received an Australian Leadership Award


James Billson

James is a qualified builder with experience in commercial and domestic construction, and large scale infrastructure works. Over the last 15 years James has established and managed technology related businesses in the internet and online marketing spaces, providing services to SME's, large corporations and government.


Tony Donaldson

Tony is a sales and marketing professional who has worked in the IT industry for the past 25 years, most recently as a member of the executive team at Fuji Xerox Australia. Now working as a Management Consultant, Tony helps businesses improve their performance – working with sales teams and coaching sales leaders to help them change their organisations results.

Rick Maddox

Rick is a mechanical/electrical engineer with 25 years of experience focused on renewable energy and sustainability in the built environment. Rick was a cofounder of EcoVision Solutions, a real time energy and water management tool that won the ABC New Inventors People Choice Award and Telstra Network 10 Environment Awards.  Rick is an Associate, Renewable Energy & Smart Grid at ARUP.


Steven Banbury

Steven is a mechanical engineer with over 20 years experience in the industrial and building services fields, both in Australia and overseas. Steven is a Director and the Principal Mechanical Engineer responsible for mechanical services at Engineering Solutions Tasmania. Steven has been instrumental in the development of Habitech’s Tech Pod and smart servicing approach to delivering smarter houses.
